A tribute to Bernard from all his friends at the Solihull Model Flying Club. We all have fond memories of sharing sunny days and of course windy and rainy ones as well with you at the Tanworth flying field and countless trips to the hills and slopes. Bernard you will be missed by all of us and we realise that you have just flown through a patch of rough air and sink. But you have now reached a tremendous slope where the lift is smooth and strong and lasts forever.

High Flight Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue, I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew - And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untresspassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
In memory of Bernard Starkey who died on Thursday 22 April 2010
When I am dead think of me, cry for me a little, Think of me sometimes, But not much. Think of me now and again as I was in life, At some moments it’s pleasant to recall, but not for long. Leave me in peace and I shell leave you in peace. And while you live Let your thoughts be with the living.
